Mick Barry
PBP–Solidarity candidate for Cork North-Central
Incumbent TDMick Barry has been an activist in Cork for over 30 years and a TD for Cork North Central since 2016. Mick has been a leader of the people power campaign which defeated water charges; fought for real action on the housing crisis and brought a bill before the Dail to ban economic evictions. Mick has helped countless workers get organised and stood with the Debenhams workers during their 406 day strike and stood with library workers, the LGBTQ+ community and migrants against far right intimidation. Mick has also been an outspoken voice for Palestinian freedom and against the genocide in Gaza and is campaigning to demand justice for disabled people, people with autism and for carers, who are the victims of state neglect. Mick is a member of the Socialist Party and believes that exploitation and inequality in all their forms can only be tackled on the basis of genuine socialist change where finally people and planet comes before profit and corruption.
