Shane Laird
PBP–Solidarity candidate for Cork South-Central
My name is Shane Laird.I have lived here in Cork City for 16 years. I got involved with politics at a young age when my parents took me to protests against the Iraq war. I saw the power of mass movements. I was involved in the referendum for gay marriage. I have been active in opposing the government's effort to undermine Irish neutrality. I have campaigned to protect workers rights, fight the rising cost of living and protect public spaces. When the far right held a number of rallies outside of the Cork library, I joined the wider community in Cork countered them.
