I served as a Councillor for seven years, in 2016 I was elected to the Dáil on the back of my involvement in the local water charges campaign among other community campaigns. I was subsequently re-elected in 2020. In my time as a TD I have championed many causes, most notably around medical cannabis, disability rights, women’s health issues, housing, drug reform and bringing forward legislation around voluntary assisted dying. I am currently the People Before Profit Spokesperson for Health and a member of the Oireachtas Health Committee.
