97 | Robert Cosgrave | https://www.pbp.ie/content/images/size/w2000/2024/11/Rob-C-nomination-pic.jpg | PBP–Solidarity | [] | Robert is active with the Socialist Party and has been active in the victories for abortion rights and against the water charges, as well as the movement in solidarity with Palestine. These struggles showed what can be won by ordinary working class people coming together to fight. This election takes place in the context of a housing crisis; deteriorating public services; and wages that come nowhere near standing up to years of a cost-of-living crisis. Internationally and in Ireland far-right groups have sought to use these crises facing ordinary people to whip up a racist frenzy and shift the blame away from the profiteers who have created these problems with the support of the political establishment. Robert wants to see a committed socialist fraction in the Dáil that uses its position to build people power movements to fight on the key issues and for a society where human need and solidarity come before private profit. | {} |
